BOSTON and BUENA PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2003
StarDot Technologies today announced an agreement with the Tzolkin Corporation, provider of the TZO Dynamic DNS Service. Under this agreement, StarDot will integrate a version of the TZO Dynamic DNS client software into all NetCam network cameras and Express 6 video servers beginning immediately.
The TZO Dynamic DNS Service allows small businesses, associations, and individuals to host an Internet server at their own location whether they have a static or dynamic IP address. Having a dynamic IP address typically prevents users from running any kind of Internet server, including a web-enabled camera or an Internet video server. StarDot has solved this problem by integrating the TZO Dynamic DNS client functionality into their cameras and video servers.
The TZO service detects the user's current IP address and automatically updates the user's DNS record whenever the IP address changes. This makes the camera or video server accessible through its domain name despite the fact that it may have a changing IP address. The reliability of the TZO service is assured through a distributed Dynamic DNS server system with redundant DNS servers in five different locations throughout North America.
"The users of Internet cameras benefit enormously from our arrangement to integrate our TZO Dynamic DNS client software with the StarDot products," said Gary Cook, CEO of Tzolkin Corporation. "This is an extremely fast-growing market and StarDot's presence in this market is significant. StarDot is an industry leader and the first company to integrate the TZO Dynamic DNS client software into their video devices. Combining our TZO service with StarDot's cameras and video servers is a winning combination that helps both our companies offer significant added value to our customers."
StarDot's network cameras and video servers lead the market in image quality and remote placement capabilities. The majority of StarDot customers place their network cameras and video servers in remote locations behind a router connected to a DSL or cable modem. Determining the router or camera server's IP address often becomes a customer service issue. Now with built-in TZO Dynamic DNS support, StarDot's product line becomes that much easier for customers to use and it frees up valuable support resources.
"Built-in TZO support is a definite value-add to our product line," said Vance Kozik, product manager for StarDot Technologies. "Being able to tell the customer that access to their cameras is simple as typing a domain name in their web browser is far superior to explaining to them the ins and outs of dynamic IP addresses."
