DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2003
ACS, (NYSE:ACS) a premier provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced today it has been awarded a five year, $1.8 million contract to implement a new computerized land record recording and imaging system for the Recorder of Deeds of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
The ACS system will bring new automation and work flow improvements to the Allegheny Recorder of Deeds staff. New computer workstations will speed document recording, realty transfer tax collection and distribution, fee collection, revenue management, receipt processing, document scanning, and indexing activities.
The previous system, implemented in 1986, had been overwhelmed with a growing volume of document processing. Aware that great strides have been made in computer technologies, McDonald Roberts sought vendors that could provide a state-of-the-art solution cost effectively.
"One of my first priorities when elected Recorder of Deeds was to bring efficiencies to the office without burdening the taxpayers of Allegheny County and my goal is to make the records and services of the office more accessible and accountable to the users and citizens of Allegheny County," said Valerie McDonald Roberts, Allegheny Recorder of Deeds.
"It was a long evaluation process - our selection committee was determined to pick the very best company and the Committee picked ACS by unanimous decision."
The Allegheny County Recorder of Deeds Office, one of the largest in the country, serves a county population of approximately 1.3 million people from 170 municipalities and school districts, including the City of Pittsburgh. Immediate advantages to Allegheny County's taxpayers, buyers and sellers of property, law firms, lending institutions, and title search companies will include faster researching, recording, filing, processing and access to the county's thirteen million electronically indexed lines of deeds, mortgages and other recorded documents.
"ACS is delighted to offer Allegheny County upgraded technologies and recording processes to increase efficiencies throughout their recording process and improve customer service," said John Brophy, group president of ACS State and Local Solutions. "Allegheny is typical of counties across the nation that are seeking the best technology solutions available to meet the demands of its citizens to provide effective government services.
The new system also will allow other government agencies including the 170 municipalities and school districts in Allegheny County, easy access to the recorder's records. Within the recorder of deeds' office, new public-access, flat-screen search stations running ACS public search software with easy-to-use Windows(TM) interface will speed and simplify research into property ownership and related public records.
