SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 2003

New Moon Systems Inc., a leader in thin-client and server-based computing software, that was recently granted Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status, today announced the general release of Canaveral iQ v2.0. The next-generation application-management software is the simple, intelligent and cost-effective solution customers demand. Now with an enhanced feature set, it is optimized for the new Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platform.

The release of Canaveral iQ v2.0 is further proof of New Moon's constant effort to enhance and refine its product suite to maximize customers' computing experience. With Canaveral iQ v2.0, Windows Terminal Services customers receive the complete terminal services experience -- the scalability, security and reliability of Windows Server 2003 combined with the complementary advanced application-management capabilities of Canaveral iQ v2.0.

Canaveral iQ is a simple, intelligent and cost-effective server-based software solution designed to reap the greatest IT efficiencies for enterprises, government agencies and educational institutions. It provides fast, secure and managed application access for new and remote offices, connects mobile workers anywhere and increases business resilience with uninterrupted access to business-critical data and applications. New Moon's intuitive and easy to use product has won customers' satisfaction in many parts of the world and is fast emerging as the logical choice for enterprises and not-for-profit organizations who wish to protect their long-term IT investments by standardizing on the Microsoft stack of technologies rather than proprietary developments.

The new version of Canaveral iQ v2.0 fully supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and builds upon the latest features of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) v.5.2 such as true color and audio support, serial port redirection and improved network performance. Among the powerful, new features of Canaveral iQ v2.0 are intelligent file association, advanced desktop publishing and location-based application launch settings including printer mapping. Location-based security policies and single port firewall traversal make server farm management more secure. Delegated administrative privileges to Canaveral iQ v2.0's Web-based management console further enhance the security of the system. Canaveral iQ v2.0 is a 100 percent redundant solution with no single point of failure, providing high availability and reliability for today's network-enabled businesses.

"We worked very closely with New Moon on the development of Canaveral iQ v2.0 to complement Microsoft's technology," said Mike Schutz, technical product manager, Windows Server Product Marketing Group, Microsoft Corp. "Because of this, our shared customers receive the full benefits of Windows Server 2003 and the added value of Canaveral iQ, all without any unnecessary overlaps. We recently recognized New Moon as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and look forward to working together in the future."

The Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Program provides a way for customers to identify companies that have proven their commitment and expertise in one or more specialized areas when delivering Microsoft technologies. Microsoft Certified Partners need to meet a higher set of criteria for each category, including enhanced certification and a portfolio of real-world customer references, and are thus identified as the most skilled partners in specific solution areas.

"By marrying our intelligent server-based computing software with the market leader's server operating system, we are delivering the ultimate terminal services package to our combined customer base," said Marc Lowe, chief executive officer, New Moon Systems. "Canaveral iQ v2.0 is the result of working closely with Microsoft and our customers to bring a product that is needed to the market."

"We have tested Canaveral iQ v2.0 in several Windows Terminal Services customer sites and found the integration between Windows Server 2003 and New Moon is seamless," said Kaj Akerblom, managing director, Realab. "Our thorough testing with key customers indicates that the market will embrace New Moon Canaveral iQ v2.0, and further drive New Moon's success in the thin-client and server-based computing market."
