REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2003
According to Dell'Oro Group, the Wireless LAN (WLAN)- 802.11 Market grew 9% sequentially, realizing revenues of $457 million in 3Q03. During the quarter, the worldwide market for Enterprise-class Access Points increased 25% to $121 M and comprised 26% of total market revenues. Cisco led the growth in this market, increasing their revenues by 44% sequentially.
"We may be at a turning point in the Enterprise market," commented Greg Collins, Director at Dell'Oro Group. "For the past three years, the SOHO market has driven much of the growth we have seen in the WLAN market, however, we are now beginning to see clear indications that the market for Enterprise-class wireless LAN equipment is poised to enter a new phase of growth," said Collins. The indicators for this change include: new technologies, such as 802.11g; new entrants, both established networking vendors and start-ups; and an increasing acceptance of WLAN in the Enterprise.
