SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2003
GameSpot (www.gamespot.com), the most highly trafficked games content site on the Web, today announced the GameSpot "Gift Finder," a new tool that lets users find the perfect video game for everyone on their holiday shopping list based on certain criteria such as multi-player functionality, level of expertise, and gaming personality. The Gift Finder is part of GameSpot's annual online Holiday Gift Guide (www.gamespot.com/features/giftguide2003/), which provides a complete round-up of all the best games of the year organized by hot features, platform, genre, and ESRB rating (Entertainment Software Rating Board). Users who take advantage of free registration can also download or stream video samples and see the games in action.
Using the GameSpot Gift Finder, shoppers can search for games by platform; level of expertise; special preferences (such as support for HDTV); as well as by the person they are buying for. This includes choices like kid brother/kid sister and parents, as well as nine typical game-personality types including the "dungeon master," the "extreme sports fanatic," the "goremonger," the "military buff," the "Sunday sports fan," the "speed racer," the "braniac," the "chronic procrastinator," and the "sci-fi fiend." The Gift Finder then searches from among GameSpot's highest rated games to come up with an appropriate recommendation.
"With so many new releases this year, it's more difficult than ever for shoppers, especially parents, to find a fun, exciting, and most importantly, appropriate game for the people on their gift list," said Greg Kasavin, executive editor of GameSpot. "This year's Holiday Gift Guides, which are written by GameSpot's team of expert editors, help shoppers narrow down the perfect gift for anyone on their list, including themselves. Whether they are buying for someone that is just getting into gaming, a young child, or a hard-core gamer, this year they can find a game that is appropriate and exciting for everyone."
In addition to the online Holiday Gift Guide, other holiday features from GameSpot include:
