New Titles Strengthen Course Technology's Leadership Position in
Computer Science Education
Course Technology, the worldwide leader in computer education products and services, and Brooks/Cole, a worldwide leader in publishing for mathematics, statistics, and the sciences--both part of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC; NYSE:TOC)--today announced that Brooks/Cole's computer science titles will be transferred to Course Technology, effective January 1, 2004. This transfer of titles will produce stronger and more focused publishing programs for both businesses.
By adding Brooks/Cole's highly regarded computer science titles to its own premiere list of titles, Course Technology now can provide customers with a comprehensive list of textbook and technology products for the computer science curriculum. Course Technology's strong publishing and marketing focus, combined with a dedicated and specialized sales force for this market, offers customers consultative options to meet their course needs.
The Brooks/Cole editorial and marketing groups will increase their focus on meeting the needs of instructors and students in mathematics, statistics, and the sciences, where they already offer market-leading print and technology solutions. Their increased focus on these disciplines will allow for even greater investment in developing new and innovative solutions for the future.
Customers will go through a seamless transition, as these two Thomson businesses share many of the same systems and overall services and
facilities. This transfer will offer authors a more specialized publishing environment, in addition to the benefits gained through Course Technology's highly focused and dedicated sales and marketing efforts.
"This list transfer will allow us to better meet the needs of instructors teaching computer science courses throughout the curriculum, from introductory to the advanced-level courses, " said Kristen Duerr, Course Technology's Executive Vice President for Academic and Technology Publishing. "We plan to build on our existing relationships in computer science departments by offering additional solutions in new course areas and through new authorship."
