WILMINGTON, Mass. & SALFORDS, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2003

Agfa Monotype Corp. has introduced the entire collections from four type foundries. The additions from Carter & Cone, Aboutype, Mad Irishman and PampaType add 142 new fonts and font packages to Fonts.com. With last month's debut from Australian Type Foundry, Patricia Lillie, Nerfect Worldwide, Fontsmith, Baseline Fonts, Bannigan Artworks, Chris Costello and Joe VanDerBos, Fonts.com has added collections from 12 foundries. The fonts can be viewed at www.fonts.com/foundries.

"Though each offers a fine collection of high-quality typefaces, these new foundries vary tremendously in regard to the aspirations, influences, geographic backgrounds and experiences that are reflected in the designs," said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Agfa Monotype. "It is this diversity that has allowed Fonts.com to develop such a remarkably well-rounded typeface selection."

Renowned designer Matthew Carter formed Carter & Cone with partner Cherie Cone in 1991. Among Carter's designs is the Big Caslon(TM) family, a revival of three display designs originally drawn to complement the Caslon typeface. Sophia(R) is an all-cap typeface with distinctive Greek overtones. The three Carter & Cone fonts and font packages are available for Macintosh(R) and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) platforms in the PostScript(R) format. Prices for individual Carter & Cone fonts begin at $60 with the Big Caslon volume of four fonts available for $110.

Founded by principal designer Joffre LeFevre in 1991, Aboutype offers a wide selection of contemporary display designs. Bitters(TM) integrates a thin drop shadow into its traditional grotesque letterforms. New Horizon(TM) Titling is an elegant, all-cap headline face originally drawn for a magazine. The 122 Aboutype fonts and font packages are available for Macintosh and Windows platforms in PostScript and TrueType(R) formats. Prices for individual fonts begin at $24 with volumes of two or more fonts starting at $38.

The collection of Mad Irishman consists largely of designs inspired by ancient decorative writing. Founder and designer Patrick Murphy describes Baldur(TM) as an uncial typeface with elements of late Roman manuscript lettering. The thick brush strokes of Miyama(TM) give this faux-Asian design its Eastern-hemisphere flavor. The nine Mad Irishman fonts and font packages are available in PostScript and TrueType formats for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Prices for individual Mad Irishman fonts begin at $22 with the Old Roman(TM) volume of four fonts available for $62.

Alejandro Lo Celso founded PampaType with the goal of developing Latin-influenced typefaces that could better handle the particularities of the Spanish language. The Rayeula(TM) family contains several variations ranging from the light and legible Rayeula Ligera text fonts to the Rayeula Chocolate typeface that offers a more thick and playful take on the design. The eight PampaType font packages are available in PostScript and TrueType formats for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Prices for PampaType font volumes of four or more fonts begin at $84.
