BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2003

On September 23rd, Ozomatli release the "Coming Up" EP, their first new studio music since 2001's Grammy(R) Award-winning "Embrace The Chaos" LP. Now recording for Concord Records, the "Coming Up" EP is a six-song precursor to their upcoming full-length LP, titled "Street Signs," which is currently slated for release in March 2004. The CD reunites the band with Chali Tuna (Jurassic 5) and with producer T-Ray (Cypress Hill, Santana) both significant contributors to Ozomatli's eponymous debut.

"Coming Up" features four new tracks in total, all produced by Ozomatli and engineered by Robert Carranza, who produced the debut Ozomatli EP that essentially started the band's career. These tracks are the first studio recordings since former Wallflowers drummer Mario Calire joined Ozomatli. The "Coming Up" EP includes enhanced behind-the-scenes footage, and one of the songs -- "Let Me Dream" -- is completely sung in English (non-rap), something new for Ozomatli.

"Coming Up" features the single "Mi Gente," a unique collaboration with Ozomatli and A.B. Quintanilla & Kumbia Kings. Hailing from Corpus Christi, Texas -- Quintanilla is brother of the late Selena -- the Kumbia Kings have sold in excess of 1.5 million CDs since their debut release. Quintanilla has won a Grammy(R) Award and the Kumbia Kings are four-time Latin Grammy(R) Award nominees. Kumbia Kings singles have scored as high as #5 on the Billboard Latin chart, and their "Shhh!" LP spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Latin chart.

Another track, "Ya Viene El Sol," is featured as a downloadable ring tone as an MP3 (an audio 30-second clip of the song) on the new Nokia 3300 phone. Not only is "Ya Viene El Sol" on the phone as a 30-second clip, it is available as a complete song on the CD-ROM included with every phone. Ozomatli were one of 8 bands chosen for this promotion, the only Spanish speaking, non-Anglo, non-rock band associated with Nokia. The company plans to release in excess of 1.5 million phones in the US, Canada and Latin America with these two Ozo assets.

Ozomatli have spent most of the last three years on the road, performing in Japan, Europe, Cuba, Australia, and Mexico. They have played with the likes of Santana (every year since 1999 and appeared on his "Shaman" LP), Los Lobos, Beck, Mana, and their national tours include The Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, The Vans Warped Tour and Sno-Core 2001. In addition to critical acclaim and national TV exposure, Ozomatli are 2002 Grammy(R) Award winners, 2002 Latin Billboard Awards nominees, 2002 ALMA Awards winner, 2002 Alma Awards nominee, and 2002 Ritmo Latino Music Award nominees.

Ozomatli will be on the Nokia Unwired tour with the All-American Rejects and Hoobastank, beginning Oct 2nd in Toronto and running through the fall.
