MINOLTA-QMS, Inc., today introduced high-speed color laser printing to its broad product line with the new magicolor 3300 series. Delivering full 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution color at up to 26 pages per minute, the magicolor 3300 brings color printing speed to a level never before offered at such an affordable price. Available in two models - the magicolor 3300 EN ($1,999) and duplex-equipped DN ($2,199) - the printers offer excellent price and performance in a high-speed package.
"When it comes to color document needs, our customers now have an affordable solution for their dilemma of shortened deadlines, extensive revisions, and tight budgets," said Stephen Fletcher, president and COO for MINOLTA-QMS. "The magicolor 3300 has features normally associated with monochrome-only printers, such as quick speed, simple usability, reliability, and economical operation, creating a color printing package that will help keep customers in the black."
Gets Down to Business in the Office Landscape
The magicolor 3300 is a versatile high-speed color laser printer developed for business workgroups. It is available in two models - the magicolor 3300 EN and the auto duplex equipped DN. In both configurations, the printer can deliver up to 26 letter-size pages per minute, at 1200 x 1200 dpi, in both color and black and white. "With the magicolor 3300, users can print their documents at the highest resolution on plain paper and won't experience slow downs for best-quality printing," Fletcher noted.
It takes more than a fast printer to keep pace with the diversity found in today's busy offices. For this reason the magicolor 3300 has PostScript 3, PCL 6 (including 5e, 5c, and XL), PDF, HP-GL, and line printer emulations to provide broad application compatibility. Additionally, the printer comes with a 450 MHz RISC processor and 256 MB RAM (expandable to 512 MB) for powerful processing and supports an internal 2.1 GB hard disk for fonts and forms storage, direct PDF printing, collation, and job accounting activities. To make support of different systems easier, the magicolor 3300 includes 10/100BaseTX multiprotocol Ethernet, IEEE 1284 parallel, and USB interfaces integrated on the controller.
The printer uses an original printing technology called PRISMLASER that aids in output speed as well as quality. PRISMLASER combines the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black toners into a single image for superior toner placement and accuracy. Quality is also influenced by the printer's custom-engineered chemical toner that improves output consistency, promotes cleaner operation, and eliminates the need for fuser oil in the fusing process.
The magicolor 3300 has three selectable quality modes within its driver to give customers maximum latitude in deciding how documents should look. Standard mode delivers full print speed at 600 x 600 dpi, Quality mode offers full speed at 1200 x 1200 dpi, and Fine mode delivers prints at half speed at 1200 x 1200 dpi. MINOLTA-QMS provides internal automatic color calibration software (AIC or Automatic Image Calibration) that ensures color stability print after print, day after day. Advanced users have the opportunity to further control color output by downloading personalized ICC profiles, using available press simulations, or selecting other color support options including PANTONE(R) Color tables.
