PETsMART Names Francesca Spinelli Senior Vice President, People

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 2003

PETsMART, Inc., has named Francesca Spinelli to the position of senior vice president, people. In that role, Spinelli will lead the company's human resources function, including staffing, compensation and benefits, associate relations and organizational development. She replaces Carol M. Cox, who recently retired from the position.

"Francesca brings to the role a wealth of experience in retail and in human resources," said Phil Francis, PETsMART's chairman and CEO. "At the same time, she's a great strategist, with a deep understanding of how to align people with the strategic goals of the organization. She will play a key role as we continue to grow, as we continue to generate returns and as we continue to pursue our strategy of providing Total Lifetime Care."

Spinelli most recently was senior vice president of people for RadioShack Corporation. Prior to that, she was corporate vice president of organizational development for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and held a number of senior level human resources positions with McLane Company, Inc., formerly a division of Wal-Mart, and with the accounting and consulting firm of Dillashaw, Hawthorn, and Company P.C.

Spinelli holds a bachelor of science degree in communication sciences from Northwestern University, a master of arts in speech pathology from the University of Iowa and a doctorate in communications sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a member of the board of directors of Advance Auto Parts, Inc.
