New Software Utility Optimizes and Compresses PowerPoint Files By Up to 94 Percent; Speeds the Creation and Transfer of Presentations
POINTLess Creates Native PowerPoint Files - Eliminates Zipping / Unzipping
Impact Labs, an award-wining developer of advanced compression and encryption software, today announced the launch of Impact POINTLess(TM), a software add-in for Microsoft(R) PowerPoint(R) that optimizes and compresses presentation files by up to 94 percent so they e-mail and download faster, and take up significantly less disk space. POINTLess saves compressed files in the native .PPT format, making them easy to share with anyone that uses PowerPoint - no zipping / unzipping or viewer software is required.
With an estimated 300 million users worldwide, PowerPoint presentations are widely used for communicating graphically intensive information to students, soldiers, businesspeople and everyone in-between. However, bandwidth limitations and attachment-size restrictions imposed by some e-mail systems often inhibit the distribution of presentations. POINTLess overcomes this problem by reducing the bandwidth and disk space required for transferring and storing PowerPoint files.
In addition to speeding file transfers, POINTLess also helps save time for presentation authors who would rather focus on developing meaningful content rather than searching for already compressed imagery or manually compressing images and flattening embedded objects, such as charts and tables within their presentations. POINTLess automates these tasks, saving time and effort.
"POINTLess is easy to use, works great and delivers really impressive compression results," said Matt McLelland, director of technology, Generous Giving, Inc. "Anyone who e-mails or downloads PowerPoint files across the Internet needs this application."
Designed for ease of use, POINTLess works with a single click. Pre-set and custom compression settings and configurations are controlled from PowerPoint's File and Tools Menu and Tool Bar. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) customers from around the world have been downloading, evaluating and buying POINTLess, which Impact began test marketing in early September.
"As a software and systems integration company that helps customers improve productivity and become more efficient, we value positive results - and that's exactly what POINTLess delivers," said Rose Devadas, vice president of Solutions Delivery, SolCom, Inc. "POINTLess is fast, easy and amazingly effective."
"POINTLess has a funny name, but delivers serious benefits for individuals and organizations dependent upon Microsoft PowerPoint," said Rick Faint, president and chief executive officer, Impact Labs. "By automating the process of optimizing and compressing PowerPoint files, POINTLess reduces bandwidth and storage requirements, creates operational efficiencies and cost savings, and enhances communication by making it easier for people to share information."
