Source Interlink Appoints Clinton Allen to Board of Directors; Outside Board Member Brings Wealth of Experience Serving Global Corporations

Source Interlink Companies (Nasdaq:SORC), the largest direct-to-retail distribution/fulfillment company and leading provider of magazine information and management services for retailers and publishers, today announced that Clinton Allen, 60, has been appointed to its Board of Directors and the Chairmanship of the Company's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Mr. Allen replaces Robert O. Aders who has announced his intention to retire, rather than stand for election at the Company's 2004 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Mr. Allen currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer of A.C. Allen & Co., an investment banking consulting firm based in Cambridge, MA. Previously, he was vice chairman of Psychemedics Corp., a provider of drug testing services, from October 1989 and served as chairman of the company from March 2002 until November 2003.
Mr. Allen was vice chairman and a director of the DeWolfe Companies, until it was acquired by Cendant Corp. in September 2002. Additionally, he was a director and member of the executive committee of Swiss Army Brands, until it was acquired by Victorinox Corp. in August 2002. He also served on the board of directors of Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. from 1986 until its acquisition by Viacom/Paramount in September 1994.

Currently, Mr. Allen serves as lead director and chairman of the audit committee of Steinway Musical Instruments, (NYSE:LVB), one of the world's largest manufacturer of musical instruments and is a director and Chairman of Collectors Universe (Nasdaq:CLCT), the leading provider of value added services to dealers and collectors of high-end collectibles. He serves as a director of Integrated Alarm Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IASG), the largest provider of wholesale security monitoring in the U.S. and is also a director of Brooks Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq:BRKS), which provides integrated tool and factory automation solutions for the global semiconductor and related industries. Additionally, he serves as a director of LKQ Corporation (Nasdaq:LKQX), the largest nationwide provider of recycled OEM automotive parts.
Mr. Allen graduated from Harvard University in 1967.
