FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2004

$350,000 Hardware Order for MA V Systems to Manage and Track Cargo, Track Aircraft and Gather/Deliver Critical Data to Inspectors on the Tarmac

Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) today announced that the Company's mobile/wearable computers and solution services are being deployed in Europe for airport management, security and mobile employee productivity.

An initial order for more than 100 Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) V (MA(R) V) computers is being deployed as the basis for a wireless/mobile computing system that augments existing PC and server-based databases and computing/communication systems. This initial deployment represents more than $350,000 (USD) of revenue.

"We are encouraged to see our efforts in Europe continue to gain momentum and contribute more actively to the overall revenue growth of the Company," stated Steven A. Newman, president and COO for Xybernaut. "The airline industry is a key vertical market for Xybernaut and wearable computing because of the mobility, flexibility and security application options these devices and solutions provide," added Newman.

Though the exact location of the deployment could not be disclosed at this time, the technology solution primarily handles aircraft and aircraft cargo information. This critical information will be made available to inspectors, security personnel and airline carrier employees when and where they need it -- in the terminal, in their security offices, as well as in and around aircraft out on the tarmac.

Manufactured for Xybernaut by IBM, the MA V combines a body-worn Windows PC-equivalent computer with an integrated lightweight flat panel display (FPD). The FPD has touch screen capabilities and the computing unit has an Intel processor and support for Windows-based applications out-of-the-box.

The system provides an aircraft inspection agent with the same functionality as if he or she was using a PC computer at a fixed location such as an office in the airport terminal. Given the wearable nature of this solution, agents can be sent out onto the tarmac, and still have access to critical aircraft and cargo data at any time.

This inspection, security and logistics deployment leverages more than a decade of hands-on Xybernaut experience and know-how with both commercial aviation customers, such as American TransAir, FedEx Express and Boeing, and government organizations, such as military, homeland security and federal/state/local logistics management deployments.
