MapInfo Names Dr. Simon J. Orebi Gann to Board of Directors; BP Executive Brings Impressive Track Record of Technology Innovation

MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS), the leading provider of location-based business intelligence solutions for the enterprise, today announced the appointment of Dr. Simon J. Orebi Gann to its Board of Directors. Dr. Orebi Gann is currently Chief Information Officer (CIO) for BP Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) business and Vice President of Digital and Communications Technology for the company. He is responsible for the integration of supply and trading technology systems throughout IST.

Prior to joining BP in March 2000, Dr. Orebi Gann served as Managing Director of Technology and Business Strategy at the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE), where he was responsible for the conception, creation, delivery and implementation of LIFFE CONNECT(TM), the world leading automated trading platform. From 1979 to 1996, Dr. Orebi Gann held senior IT executive positions at Marks & Spencer. His significant contributions at Marks & Spencer included the development and implementation of highly responsive food, clothing and homewares supply chain systems, the introduction of point-of-sale systems which are now used in more than 300 stores throughout Europe, the creation of a modern data center, and the development of modern voice and data communication systems.
In addition, Dr. Orebi Gann has served on two British government advisory committees, recommending priorities for their funding of IT research. He is currently a non-executive partner in a strategic consultancy business, and until recently was a non-executive director of Cablenet, the cable industry hub solutions business.

Dr. Orebi Gann was educated at Merton College, Oxford, where he was awarded a BA in Physics and a DPhil in High Energy Nuclear Physics.

Cavalier, MapInfo President and CEO Mark Cattini, Business Objects Vice President of Worldwide Professional Services Joni Kahn, Bridgeline Software President and CEO Thomas L.
