Compressed Voice Solution Requires only 100 Kbps for a full T1
(24 Voice Channels) over DOCSIS cable modems!
RAD Data Communications, Inc. announced today it was introducing at The National Show in New Orleans, May 2-4, Booth 3927, a unique suite of product solutions for delivering high-margin commercial voice and T1/E1 circuit emulation services over cable HFC/metro infrastructures. Based on RAD's patented TDMoIP technology, the Vmux and IPmux product solutions offer a simple "permanent virtual circuit" alternative to VoIP that protects investment in telephony equipment. RAD's IPmux uses TDMoIP to deliver low-latency T1/E1 circuits over Cable HFC and Metro Ethernet infrastructures. RAD's Vmux combines TDMoIP with voice compression to very efficiently deliver T1/E1 commercial voice services over DOCSIS cable modems with greater resiliency to packet loss and significantly better bandwidth utilization than VoIP solutions. TDMoIP is transparent to signaling protocols, ensuring support for existing, rich PBX features sets, as well as carrier class 5 telephony features, including Centrex.
"RAD's TDMoIP solution suite gives cable operators a competitive platform from which to offer high-quality business voice services across their existing cable HFC and Metro Ethernet infrastructures" says Eitan Schwartz, General Manager and VP of RAD Data's TDMoIP Division. "TDMoIP is a better technological alternative for cable operators than VoIP because not only is it transparent to ALL signaling protocols, but its channel aggregation and multiplexing mechanisms improve QoS with greater tolerance to packet loss and reduced packetizing delay, latency and overhead. The savings in bandwidth is especially significant with the Vmux product solution, requiring less than 100 Kbps of bandwidth to support a full T1 of voice channels," explains Schwartz.
TDMoIP is suitable for a broad range of applications, such as T1/E1 business voice services, private line voice networking between enterprise locations, T1/E1 circuit emulation, cellular backhaul, MDU/MTU and hotel communications, long distance toll bypass, inter-trunking between mobile switching centers, special events mobile communications centers, and disaster recovery.
RAD has shipped more than 20,000 TDMoIP ports since first introducing the technology at the end of 1999.
