TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 2004
InterVideo, Inc. (Nasdaq:IVII) announced today that it has agreed to provide NEC Corporation (Nasdaq:NIPNY) (FTSE: 6701q.l) with an OEM version of WinDVD(R) Creator 2 for a new line of NEC multimedia PCs scheduled to launch early next month. With InterVideo's award-winning movie-making software, NEC PC users will have an integrated, easy-to-use solution that lets them quickly capture, edit, author and burn professional-looking DVDs or VCDs using a simple, integrated interface. Equipped to meet the demands of creating, authoring and sharing home videos, the new NEC PCs will be exclusive to Japan and will be marketed by NEC Personal Products, Ltd.
By integrating the movie-making applications into a single solution, WinDVD Creator 2 eliminates the need to learn and switch between video editing, authoring and burning software programs. To simplify video sharing, WinDVD Creator 2 supports all of the DVD recording formats, including the DVD /-VR, DVD-Video, miniDVD, and CD recording formats.
Video footage can be captured to the PC's hard drive for editing by connecting a camcorder or a VCR to the PC's IEEE 1394 port. WinDVD Creator's simplified editing tools can then be used to remove unwanted scenes and enhance the video with titles, transitions, effects, background music and narration, or DVD menus before burning a disc. For added convenience, the software includes instant playback of edits so users can preview their changes and try out various transitions without having to wait while the video is rendered.
WinDVD Creator 2 also offers direct recording capabilities for consumers who want the fastest way to transfer their video to disc without editing the content. Using the direct recording functions, users can plug a DV camera into the FireWire(R) port of their PC and burn a DVD directly from the DV tape. Direct recording is also the fastest way to convert VHS tapes to long-lasting DVDs.
