Local students and recent graduates looking for summer, part-time, extra-cash or career-opening jobs are set to gather at the credit union for two Neighborhood Community Job Fairs at the Northridge and Montebello branches on May 8 and May 15, respectively. A diverse array of businesses with equally diverse employment opportunities will collect resumes, distribute applications and conduct preliminary interviews in the parking lots of the Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU) branches at 16840 Devonshire Blvd. in Northridge and at 2527 W. Via Campo Blvd. in Montebello from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Both fairs are sponsored by Water and Power Community Credit Union, so they are of no cost to participating businesses or candidates.
"Jobs are not that easy to come by these days but we have amassed a group of employers that are looking for full and part-time help," said Ron Stratman, Director of Marketing for WPCCU. "We want to support today's young job seekers in that endeavor and at the same time, provide companies with a venue for efficiently finding qualified applicants."
More than 25 businesses are expected to participate at each fair, giving job seekers a full variety of opportunities including manufacturing, restaurant, clerical and customer service positions in retail, industrial and professional environments. Businesses on hand will include regional representatives of Adelphia Communication, Carl's Jr., U.S. Postal Service, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Beverly Hospital, Hilton Garden Inn, Fatburger, Mann Theaters, American Office Products and Water & Power Community Credit Union. Students and graduates from every high school, college and university in the San Fernando Valley and Montebello areas are invited to attend. In addition, everyone in attendance will be eligible to win a U.S. Savings Bond from WPCCU, and students who sign up early through their schools will be given an extra raffle ticket, doubling the opportunity to win.
For more information, students should visit their school career counselor or job center. Businesses interested in participating should call Josh Bradley at 310-556-4443 or go to www.wpcu.org.
