Tek-Tools Offers Enhanced Support for NetApp Storage Systems; Profiler Rx Monitors and Reports on Network Controlled Storage Resources

Business Wire, August 16, 2004

DALLAS -- Tek-Tools, Inc., the leader in the independent Storage Resource Management (SRM) market, today announced that its Profiler Rx(TM) Suite now provides enhanced file analysis support for Network Appliance(TM) storage systems, helping to lower the costs of and alleviate the difficulty of integrated storage management across heterogeneous environments while accelerating problem diagnosis and resolutions.

Tek-Tools' Profiler Rx Suite provides support for operator-friendly, location-independent monitoring and reporting for NetApp(R) storage systems. From any supported Web browser, both operators and administrators can trend volumes and Qtrees; run Snapshot(TM) and SnapMirror(R) reports; view Data ONTAP(TM) version, cluster, disk, and quota configuration; and monitor performance statistics. Profiler performs file analysis at the storage system, virtual storage system, NFS, and CIFS levels, and performs policy-based file detection and change reporting. Profiler for NetApp includes a number of off-the-shelf reports, saving administrators several hours each month from building reports from scratch. Reports can also be easily customized using a report wizard.

"Network Appliance is on the forefront of data access and content delivery in large-scale enterprises. Their technology allows storage consolidation across multiple domains and servers by securely partitioning a single NetApp storage system, and Profiler monitors those virtual storage systems," said Ken Barth, president and CEO of Tek-Tools. "Network Appliance and Tek-Tools share the same goal of looking for ways to reduce management complexity and lower TCO across heterogeneous environments."

"Management of complex data stores is more important today than ever. Tools such as Tek-Tools' Profiler for NetApp simplifies management of storage systems by providing customizable yet easy-to-use management and forecasting tools that reduce costs and avoid unpleasant surprises," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Marketing at Network Appliance. "Profiler's administrative and reporting functionality simplifies the overall storage management process for our customers."

The Profiler Rx Suite is a high-performance, modular, Web-based, real-time and historical resource reporting application targeting DAS, NAS, SAN, database, and backup pain in customer environments. With Profiler Rx, users choose solution modules that allow their organization to monitor the entire storage enterprise. Profiler Rx installs quickly with only one download and easily integrates with existing storage systems and applications.

Profiler Rx Version 3.5 is available from Tek-Tools now. Pricing starts at $3,000 per Network Appliance storage system.
