RefrigiWear Launches Wine Wrapsody Allowing Consumers to Enjoy Wine at the Optimum Serving Tempratures: White Wines at Approximately 50 Degrees F; Red Wines at 62 Degrees F
Business Wire, August 16, 2004
DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Think of the last glass of wine you truly enjoyed. What made it so memorable? Was it the flavor or texture of the wine itself, the fine-shaped glass in which it was served, or the perfect temperature that allowed the flavors to burst onto the palette? Chances are it was a combination of all three. Yet for most wine consumers, enjoying wine at the proper temperature seems to be the most difficult aspect of the wine experience to replicate at home without the investment in expensive wine refrigerators.
RefrigiWear announces the launch of Wine Wrapsody(TM), a product line designed to maintain the optimum serving temperature for red and white wine for up to two hours. Wine Wrapsody for red wine maintains the temperature at about 62 degrees Fahrenheit, and Wine Wrapsody for white wine maintains the temperature at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Both products will retail for $19.95 each.
"Wine Wrapsody is the only product on the market today that can maintain ideal serving temperatures for wine, without over-chilling or bruising the wine," stated Bruce Perlman, executive vice president of sales and marketing for the Wine Wrapsody product line. "Consumers are becoming increasingly enthusiastic and savvy about wine. Just as serving wine in the proper glass has become increasingly popular, ensuring the proper serving temperature is the next evolution of the wine experience for consumers. Only Wine Wrapsody allows consumers to drink wine the way the winemakers intended, at the perfect temperature."
Ideal Serving Temperature Critical to Enjoying Wine
Consumers know that the right vintage, the right character and the right flavor are all essential to enjoying wine. However, wine enthusiasts and novices alike know less about the importance of the proper serving temperature.
It is a widely held misconception that red wine should be enjoyed at room temperature. In fact, red wine should be enjoyed at about 62 degrees Fahrenheit. The average room temperature in the United States is about 72 degrees Fahrenheit -- far too warm for red wine. Historically, average room temperatures in Europe were lower than temperatures in the U.S., which may have contributed to this mistaken belief.
Additionally, over-chilling a bottle of wine can shock and bruise the wine, robbing it of its true character. According to many notable wine experts, the optimum serving temperature for most white wines is about 50 degrees Fahrenheit and about 62 degrees Fahrenheit for red wines.
"The vintner relies on an approximate temperature to serve and enjoy what is a very comprehensive and careful process of growing and producing wine," explained Herb Spasser, Society of Wine Educators.
How Wine Wrapsody Works
Wine Wrapsody Red and Wine Wrapsody White work by being charged in a freezer or refrigerator. Placed flat in its cooling environment, each product will be fully functional after 20 minutes in the freezer or 45 minutes in the refrigerator. Wine Wrapsody may be used on any size wine bottle. Secured with a re-sealable Velcro(R) fastener, Wine Wrapsody maintains its temperature for up to two hours. After use, the Wine Wrapsody can be returned to the freezer or refrigerator to re-charge for repeat or future use.
"In our business, we pour red and white wines by the glass on a daily basis. Serving them at an ideal temperature is critical to our customer's positive experience. We have tried gel-based products on the market today and find that most take the temperature of the wine down too far, sometimes even freezing the wine. Wine Wrapsody allows us to serve both red and white wines at the absolute perfect temperature," said Chris Morocco, chief marketing executive, PJ's Coffee and Wine Bar, a national concept based in New Orleans.
Wine Wrapsody Construction and Cooling Technology
The exterior is made of an attractive and durable, 100% nylon - Burgundy for red wines and Black for white wines -- and features a re-sealable Velcro(R) fastener. The product's appearance is understated, elegant enough to be set out on the table at home or at a fine restaurant. Wine Wrapsody utilizes a non-toxic, proprietary technology originally developed to cool military personnel wearing heavy protective clothing. Neither ice nor gel, this technology is literally battle-tested, frequently used to cool US Armed Forces serving in the warmest environments overseas.
Availability and Ordering Information
Distributors and retailers may order Wine Wrapsody by phone, or through an authorized Wine Wrapsody representative. Wine Wrapsody customer service representatives are also available to assist customers with logo embroidery. Wine Wrapsody will be available in two SKUs, one for red wine and one for white wine.
