Business Wire, August 17, 2004

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Please replace the release dated August 16, 2004 with the following due to multiple revisions. The entire release was reworked mainly in order to clarify the content of the original fifth (and final) paragraph, which had read:

Existing ScriptLogic customers are advised to upgrade to Desktop Authority 5.6, which is available immediately, before installing the service pack. Customers receive a complimentary upgrade with their current maintenance agreements.

The corrected release reads:

SCRIPTLOGIC'S DESKTOP AUTHORITY & SCRIPTLOGIC ENTERPRISE 5.6 MANAGE SMOOTH TRANSITION TO MICROSOFT XP SERVICE PACK 2

DESKTOP ADMINISTRATION VERSION 5.6 SOLUTIONS ARE FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH LATEST WINDOWS XP RELEASE AND DELIVER CONTROLLED INSTALLATION AND ROLL-OUT.

ScriptLogic Corporation, a leader in network administration software for Microsoft Windows-based networks, today announced that ScriptLogic Enterprise and Desktop Authority customers around the world are benefiting from the new 5.6 release. In addition to full compatibility, ScriptLogic customers can schedule and control the installation of the Microsoft XP Service Pack 2, a major security update released on August 6.

"Windows XP Service Pack 2 is a significant new release from Microsoft," said Ben Battle, vice president of Product Development of ScriptLogic Corporation. "While there are a number of very positive changes and upgrades, the changes to the default Windows firewall configuration could cause a serious ripple affect among IT organizations. It could be as drastic as IT administrators rolling out the service pack one night, and then realizing the next day critical applications no longer function. ScriptLogic realized this since the beta of the service pack was released and we have built functionality so our customers can continue without worry."

Desktop Authority and ScriptLogic Enterprise, ScriptLogic's award-winning Windows desktop administration products, streamline and centrally manage desktop machine configurations, logon scripting and user profiles. Both solutions facilitate software deployment so customers can administer and schedule installations of the Microsoft Service Pack using ScriptLogic's exclusive Validation Logic technology. Using Validation Logic, administrators can identify which machines need the service pack and deliver it. Installation can be set to occur at the next logon, logoff or shutdown.

Additionally, with the Desktop Authority product, administrators can use the DA manager to ensure that a port is opened on the firewall for browser-based remote control access, permitting IT personnel control of end-user machines for troubleshooting.

Starting today, customers can use the new versions to open specific ports in the firewall activated by the service pack. Complimentary custom scripts, available via download at www.scriptlogic.com/support/xpsp2rc/, can control other ports on enterprise workstations such as those used by anti-virus software updating processes.

Existing ScriptLogic Corporation customers are advised to upgrade to Desktop Authority 5.6 or ScriptLogic Enterprise 5.6, which are available immediately, before installing the service pack. Desktop Authority and ScriptLogic Enterprise customers with current maintenance agreements will receive a complimentary upgrade.
