FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- NMS Technology and TappS Enable Service Providers to Create and Deliver Innovative Network-Based Hosted Services
NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), the leading provider of technologies and solutions for enhanced services and efficient networks, and Personeta, the leading provider of Network Service Controllers (NSCs) for the delivery of network-based hosted voice and data services, today announced that Personeta is using NMS technology as an integral part of its TappS NSC Network Controller. NMS Open Access(TM) technology (www.nmscommunications.com/OpenAccess) is being used by Personeta to enable services such as hosted automated attendant, network-based Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) for call centers, variable charging (prepaid) for pay-as-you-go voice and broadband, and converged voice and data to the desktop.
Service Providers can use Personeta's TappS NSC intelligent network service controller to improve profitability by leveraging their existing networks while migrating to next-generation, hosted, network-based voice and data services. TappS enables carriers to deliver these services regardless of the underlying network or technology. Personeta has incorporated the NMS technology into two critical components of the TappS architecture making up its highly flexible network adaptation layer: Open Access products are being used in the TappS Media Server Adaptor and in Personeta's SS7 Adaptors.
"NMS' technology has enabled Personeta to develop TappS NSC's robust, flexible architecture that meets the changing needs of service providers worldwide," said Mark McIlvane, President and CEO of Personeta. "NMS' Open Access building blocks provide the scalability and flexibility that enable TappS NSC to work with any network technology mix as well as migrate easily and efficiently to new technologies."
"Personeta's TappS NSC offers a very flexible platform for service providers to easily develop and deliver innovative services to their customers," said Brough Turner, Senior Vice President of Technology, NMS Communications. "Our most successful partnerships are those in which our customers use our technologies for innovation, ease of use, and tangible end-user benefits. The TappS NSC platform and services, such as the Hosted Automated Attendant, deliver these benefits, and more, to service providers, and we're delighted to be working closely with such an innovative company."
Personeta received two awards from NMS at the 2004 Supercomm: Personeta's TappS Hosted Automated Attendant was selected as the "Best Overall Application" in the Industry Experts Choice category of NMS' Open Access Application Challenge and Personeta's TappS NSC was selected one of the three winners in the "Most Innovative Applications" category in a people's choice award. To be considered for the honor, a company had to develop the most innovative new application using NMS Open Access communications building blocks.
