ILoop Mobile Teams with World's Leading Sports Info Provider STATS, Inc. for Nation's Premium Sports Messaging Service; ``Athens 2004 on Your Cell Campaign''
Business Wire, August 17, 2004
SAN FRANCISCO & MORTON GROVE, Ill. -- ILoop Mobile Inc., the leader in U.S. premium text messaging subscriptions, announces a partnership with STATS, Inc., the world's leading sports information provider, to deliver Premium SMS (text messaging) sports subscription services in the United States beginning with an Olympic mobile campaign this week.
"We see premium SMS as an important new revenue generating channel for our sports content and ILoop Mobile is an important partner to our future success in the mobile space," says Greg Kirkorsky, Sales Manager at STATS. Inc.
"Athens 2004 On Your Cell" is ILoop Mobile's pioneering Olympics subscription program, running August 13 to 29. It allows audiences to follow the success of the US Olympic team in real-time on their cell phone. The campaign is being promoted through traditional online and print media channels and ILoop Mobile's newest promotional partners. For the first time ever, the program provides subscribers exclusive text messages each time a U.S. athlete medals in the Olympics, and also gives a top ten medal count by nation at the end of each day. Subscribers are also entered into a sweepstakes to win a trip to Athens. Each message they receive is one entry in the sweepstakes. To enroll, Verizon, AT&T Wireless, Cingular and T Mobile subscribers text message the word "TEAM" to the common short code (CSC) 47467. Users are charged $0.30 for each message they receive. They can opt out at any time by texting "TEAM STOP" to the same CSC.
"It's a terrific way for Americans to cheer on the U.S. athletes in real-time and stay current on the Olympic medal count by nation. We're pleased to launch this exclusive service across the nation," says Michael Becker, President and COO ILoop Mobile. This year, the US Olympians are aiming for a 100 medal total.
Following the Olympics campaign, ILoop Mobile and STATS, Inc. will launch an array of sports subscription services for the 2004-2005 college and professional sports season. According to Becker, these new text messaging programs will allow U.S. fans to stay current on their favorite team scores through these exclusive offerings.
Along with subscription services like sports, weather, horoscopes, traffic, etc., ILoop Mobile's technology allows products and services to be marketed directly to cell phone subscribers. Mobile marketing can engage mobile subscribers through their mobile phones once they've opted in for an entertainment, marketing, advertising, commerce or community services. In the U.S., the market to date is more than 163 million mobile subscribers. "At ILoop Mobile we encourage marketers to introduce these new programs to target consumers through partnerships with traditional media channels, and then we work with brands to build a one-to-one relationship with the customers who respond to the campaign offerings," says Becker.
