Regal Entertainment Group Brings Music to the Movies with New CinemaSounds Service from DMI Entertainment Programming
Business Wire, August 17, 2004
DENVER & LOS ANGELES -- Private-Labeled Radio Network to be Featured in More Than 120 Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres Nationwide
Regal CineMedia, a division of Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), and DMI Entertainment Programming, a division of Disc Marketing and a leading entertainment marketing company, today announced the creation of Regal Entertainment Group's "WideScreen Radio," private-labeled, customized music programming provided by DMI Entertainment Programming through its new CinemaSounds service. The service is available to more than 120 Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres nationwide.
Regal's WideScreen Radio plays continuously in select theatre lobbies and other common areas, as well as in approximately 900 movie auditoriums across the country, in between the conclusion of one screening and the beginning of the next, typically about 30 minutes. The program features new releases, emerging artists, top hits, as well as featured soundtrack selections from current and future movie releases.
"At Regal, we like to provide our patrons with a complete entertainment experience from the time they walk into our lobbies until the feature film begins," said Cliff Marks, president, marketing and sales, Regal CineMedia. "Having distinct music programming, like CinemaSounds, available in our lobbies, as well as in select auditoriums prior to showtime, is key to maintaining a total entertainment atmosphere."
The new DMI Entertainment Programming CinemaSounds service provides theatre operators with customized music tracks that appeal to their customers and enhances the movie theatre experience. Unlike other audio programming offerings, the CinemaSounds service is designed to be private-labeled by theatre operators, enabling them to increase brand preference among customers and drive incremental revenues.
The CinemaSounds service is supported by both major and independent recording labels, providing them opportunities both to promote up-and-coming artists and to extend the popularity of established artists. The service features a broad selection of music genres, ranging from pop to rock to country to classical.
"Music is integral in creating an atmosphere of entertainment and plays a central role in many of our most memorable experiences," said Tena Clark, CEO of DMI Entertainment Programming. "Bringing good music into theatres benefits movie-goers, cinema operators and record labels alike. We are pleased that Regal, the leader in the theatre industry, is the first to introduce a private-labeled radio network utilizing our CinemaSounds service."
