Sam Levitz Furniture Launching GERS' Warehouse Management Module for Improved Inventory Control
Business Wire, August 17, 2004
SAN DIEGO -- Automation and Real-Time Access to Quantity, Location, and Storage Requirements Will Increase Productivity and Accuracy
GERS Retail Systems, the leading provider of real-time, closed-loop retail management solutions, today announced that Sam Levitz Furniture in Tucson, Ariz. is integrating GERS' Warehouse Management Module (WMM) into their GERS Inventory solution.
"We estimate that running our warehouse with GERS' WMM will save at least 10 percent in labor costs and produce a dramatic improvement in the accuracy of our inventory," said Eric Creson, Vice President/CFO for Sam Levitz Furniture.
GERS' WMM automates the labor-intensive tasks of receiving, transferring, and cycle counting of inventory. Advanced features such as interleaving, lockout, and directed putaway will significantly increase warehouse personnel productivity. RF technology provides real-time access to quantity, location, and storage requirements for individual items of merchandise, each one of which can have its own serialized ID number for precise tracking.
"We're also looking forward to improving customer service by speeding up customer pickups, which account for 15 to 20 percent of our business," added Creson. "The interleaving feature of GERS' WMM allows multiple lift operators to pull customer orders on their way back from putting away merchandise, which we expect to significantly reduce our customers wait time."
Sam Levitz is also moving to the latest version of GERS' Inventory and Merchandising solution (10.4) which includes an Oracle upgrade. In addition, they are adding GERS' Private Label Finance solution to improve customer service by speeding third-party credit transactions at the point of sale, and increase productivity by eliminating duplication and reducing manual processing, errors and the time and labor required for add-on authorizations and end-of-day settlements.
"The upgrades and new solutions we're implementing for Sam Levitz will enable them to increase productivity and performance in all areas of their operation to the betterment of their bottom line," said Phil Kenney, Vice President of Marketing for GERS Retail Systems.
