Symbiot Appoints Former Network Solutions CTO and Industry Visionary David Holtzman to Board of Directors
Business Wire, August 17, 2004
AUSTIN, Texas -- Symbiot, Inc., an emerging leader in the Intelligent Security Infrastructure Management Systems (iSIMS) marketplace, today announced that it has appointed former Network Solutions Chief Technical Officer and industry visionary David Holtzman to serve on its board of directors.
Mr. Holtzman is the founder and editor-in-chief of GlobalPOV, an on-line discussion forum, where he collaborates with business, political and technology leaders from around the world to determine the specific ways that technology is changing notions such as privacy, identity and intellectual property. Previously, Holtzman served as the former CTO of Network Solutions, where he managed the Internet's master root server and oversaw the growth of the commercial Internet from 500,000 domain names to over 20 million during the late 1990s.
"Symbiot is poised to experience considerable growth in the worldwide security marketplace," said David Holtzman, former CTO of Network Solutions and president of GlobalPOV. "I am pleased to contribute my experience and support to a management team committed to changing the way information security impacts society at large."
A former cryptographic analyst and submariner with the U.S. Navy, Holtzman also worked at DEFSMAC (Defense Special Missile and Astronautics Center) as an intelligence analyst, focusing primarily on the Soviet Manned Space program. He holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as being an honors graduate in Russian from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.
"Throughout his career David has led initiatives that have radically changed the way people interact with technology. In addition, he has a proven track record of managing growth in new and emerging markets," said Michael Erwin, president of Symbiot, Inc. "This experience ideally supports Symbiot's mission to revolutionize information security by delivering pervasive risk metric technologies to market."
In order to provide for this appointment without increasing the size of its board, William A. Broussard has relinquished his board seat. As a result, Symbiot's board is now comprised of Mr. Holtzman, Tom Bishop, the chief technology officer at VIEO, Inc. and the former CTO of Tivoli and Michael Erwin, Symbiot's president and chairman. Mr. Broussard will continue to serve as Symbiot's general counsel and corporate secretary.
