BOSTON -- Polly Plimpton to Head Subcommittee on Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and Section 16 of the Committee on Federal Securities Regulation

Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, a leading full service Boston-based law firm, today announced that Polly Plimpton, counsel to the firm's Business Practice Group, has been appointed chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Subcommittee on Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and Section 16 of the Committee on Federal Securities Regulation. The appointment was formalized at the organization's Annual Meeting this past week in Atlanta.

The Subcommittee on Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and Section 16 of the Committee on Federal Securities Regulation focuses on critical federal securities issues, such as insider trading, proxy disclosure, and rules governing employee stock options and equity compensation, among other issues. As chair, Plimpton's duties will include representing the ABA's positions on rulemaking proposals and amicus briefs. Plimpton will also help set the professional education agenda at the spring, fall, and annual ABA sessions.

"The ABA's appointment of Polly is a testament to her expertise and insight, as well as the high regard in which she is held in the national legal community," said William B. Asher, managing partner for Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault. "Her proficiency in securities law has made her a valuable resource to the clients of Testa's Business Practice Group on a broad range of federal securities issues--from insider trading to proxy disclosure to rules governing employee stock options and equity compensation. It's fitting that she should devote her experience to help improve our profession as a whole."

In her work for Testa, Plimpton concentrates her practice in securities law including insider trading and reporting under Section 16, state securities regulation, regulation of broker-dealers under federal and state securities laws and resales of restricted securities. She received her B.A. magna cum laude, from Yale University, her M.A. from the University of Massachusetts and her J.D. from University of Georgia School of Law. Plimpton is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts (1978).

With more than 400,000 members, the American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional membership organization in the world. As the national voice of the legal profession, the ABA works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understanding around the world of the importance of the rule of law in a democratic society.
