Former Sun Executive Joins Aberdeen Group as Vice President of Technology Research

BOSTON -- Aberdeen Group, the leading business value research firm for G5000 executives, announced that William Malik has joined the company as Vice President, Technology Research. Malik joins Aberdeen from Sun Microsystems, where he served as CTO/Evangelist for identity management. In his new role, Malik will drive Aberdeen's CIO's Strategic Agenda research programs.

During his time at Sun, Malik was responsible for strategic identity management initiatives, both internally and among the company's prospects, customers, and partners. Prior to that, he served as CTO of Waveset, a provider of identity management solutions later acquired by Sun.
Earlier in his career, Malik was a Senior Director for KPMG LLP's Risk and Advisory Services practice. He also spent 11 years with Gartner, where he authored over 150 research articles and presentations, and another 12 years as an advisory programmer at IBM.
Bill attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he majored in mathematics. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the New York Electronic Crime Task Force, Connecticut's InfraGard chapter, the Advisory Board of the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, and the Advisory Board of the Program in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at Syracuse University's School of Management.
