Storix, Inc. Wins the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award for its System Backup Administrator Version 5.1
Business Wire, August 18, 2004
SAN DIEGO -- Storix, Inc. announced today that Storix System Backup Administrator has won the coveted LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award for the Best Data Backup and Storage Product at the 2004 LinuxWorld Conference and Exposition in San Francisco.
Storix SBA provides a centralized graphical user interface for management and automation of complete multi-level backups of a single workstation or all systems on the network. This intuitive interface provides all the standard features you would expect, while also providing advanced features like backup scheduling, tape labels, tape striping, overwrite and retention policies, performance statistics, history reporting, support for disk or SAN, disk-to-tape staging, random tape libraries and sequential autoloaders.
The recently released Storix SBA Version 5.1 has brought the award-winning software to an even higher level. "We did an extensive study of the needs of our business customers and have tailored Storix SBA to meet those needs," explained Rich Turner, Director of Product Development. "Because the cost of disk storage has lowered dramatically, it made good business sense to provide our customers with the ability to send full-system backups to a bootable spare hard disk or SAN storage. If required, the user can reinstall an entire system or perform selective restores, with or without tape drives."
Storix SBA excels in its unique abilities to accomplish remote or local, "bare-metal" restorations, supporting LVM, software RAID and various filesystem types, in addition to system cloning and system migration onto any hardware configuration. "For our business customers, this brings substantially greater efficiencies," added Michael Michalik, Director of Sales and Marketing at Storix. "The net result is remarkably lower system downtime and an impressive reduction of downtime associated costs."
Storix, Inc., founded in 1998, developed a system backup and disaster recovery solution for AIX, and expanded its product to support Linux in July of 2002. Storix is firmly committed to providing its customer base with AIX and Linux specific products that provide the most flexible and complete full-system backup and recovery solution available.
