Emic Application Cluster Partners With Novell to Provide Clustering Solution for SUSE LINUX

Business Wire, August 2, 2004

SAN FRANCISCO -- Emic Networks announces it is now a Novell(R) Technology Partner. The Emic Application Cluster(TM) (EAC(TM)) is a seamless middleware solution that works with Novell's SUSE(TM) LINUX Enterprise Server product line, providing business continuity services that run under SUSE LINUX.

EAC clusters multiple MySQL(R) and Apache Servers, presenting a unified system image. It dynamically shifts server resources, providing high-availability and linear scalability through fast synchronous replication. EAC's core technology is based on IP Layer 2 and 3 clustering, with built-in load balancing, fault management and application level clustering.

"Novell embraces the open source movement, and extending our open, cross-platform computing strategy through technology partners is a key part of our strategy," states Chris Cooper, director of developer services for Novell. "The Emic Application Cluster is a new option for SUSE LINUX users who want to ensure the business continuity of their critical applications."

"Novell has become a leading source of Linux, and we are pleased to provide SUSE LINUX users with a clustering solution," says Eero Teerikorpi, CEO of Emic Networks. "The combination of SUSE LINUX and EAC is very compelling from a TCO perspective, because our clustering solution is only a fifth to a tenth of the cost of a comparable, proprietary solution."

EAC products and services are available worldwide, and may be purchased directly from Emic Networks or through an international network of reseller and systems integration partners.
