Business Wire, August 23, 2004
ATLANTA -- High-Speed Connectivity Solution Provides High-Performance Internet to Students, Faculty
Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX: IIP), the leading provider of performance-based routing technology over the Internet, announced today that it will now provide high-speed, OC-3 Internet connectivity to students, faculty and administrators at The George Washington University Virginia Campus, a rapidly growing, 90-acre campus located just outside of Washington, D.C. in Loudoun County, VA. Internap has provided high-performance Internet connectivity services to the University's main campus in Washington for two years.
The University signed a three-year deal with Internap to provide IP connectivity to GW's Virginia Campus, a robust center for innovative research, graduate education and advanced partnerships. As the University's research and technology campus, its specialized fields of expertise are transportation safety and security, public health and homeland security, and information technology and telecommunications.
"The decision to continue our relationship and upgrade our service with Internap was an easy one because we've never had to call the NOC to report a problem with our service," said Andrew Gallo, senior information systems engineer for GW. "Internap has the best SLA in the industry, but we've never had to rely on it to obtain service credits since we've never had an outage or service degradation. From sales to installation, the Internap team has delivered flawlessly."
"Over the past two years, we've worked closely with the information systems team at the Foggy Bottom campus of The George Washington University to provide superior Internet service," said Don Magnuson, mid-Atlantic market director for Internap. "Now, as we extend these services to their Virginia campus, we believe this capability will help GW maintain its leadership role as one of the leading institutions of higher education in the nation's capital and the surrounding region."
Magnuson noted the GW contract is the latest in a series of Internap agreements with leading educational institutions. Other colleges and universities that have chosen Internap include the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PSSHE) and Emory University in Atlanta. In Pennsylvania, for instance, Internap services allowed the PSSHE to offer reliable IP connectivity for distance learning, research, internal Internet access, and educational Internet usage by students. The PSSHE serves more than 109,000 students from 14 universities throughout the state.
With locations through the United States, as well as in London and Tokyo, Internap offers a variety of high-performance Internet solutions. As the leader in route control, the company combines its intelligent routing technology with built-in reliability, network redundancy and superior client support which allows companies to increase productivity, generate greater revenue, decrease costs and improve customer relationships.
