Business Wire, August 24, 2004
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet company, announced today that Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com) will once again offer live audio broadcasts of some of the highest-profile teams in college sports. The service will give fans access to live audio broadcasts of games, press conferences, coach's shows and related athletic department events throughout the 2004 school year.
The service will officially launch on Saturday, August 28, when audio coverage of top-ranked USC and new ACC Conference powerhouse Virginia Tech's game begins at 7:45 EST on Yahoo! Sports College Broadcast.
"We are excited to offer college sports fans another great school year of broadband content in 2004," said Brian Grey, general manager of Yahoo! Sports. "This year's Yahoo! Sports College Broadcast service will once again allow fans from across the country and around the world to enjoy real-time coverage of their favorite college teams."
While broadcast content from some schools will continue to be free to consumers, this is the second straight year that Yahoo! Sports will offer its premium "College Pack" and "School Pack" options for certain schools. In 2004, more than 50 schools are expected to be included in the "College Pack" product, which enables fans to gain access to audio content from every school on the Yahoo! 1. School Pass Subscription - consumers can access all broadcasts for all sports for a single school for $4.95 per month.
2. College Pack Subscription - consumers can access all college broadcasts for all schools carried by Yahoo! Sports for $9.95 per month.
This year, a number of new schools have joined the Yahoo! Sports College Broadcast subscription service, including USC, Univ. of Wisconsin, Univ. of Colorado, Clemson University, Univ. of Missouri, Univ. of New Mexico, Univ. of Wyoming, Western Michigan and more.
