Visionael Corp. Appoints Craig Nichols President and CEO; Technology Industry Veteran Takes the Reins at Leading Security and Network Management Company
Business Wire, August 24, 2004
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Visionael Corp., a leading provider of security and network management solutions, today announced the appointment of Craig Nichols as president and chief executive officer. In his new role, Nichols will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the company and managing overall operations, while identifying key areas for Visionael's continued growth in the network management and IT security markets. Nichols replaces Marc Jones, who will be remaining with the company as Chairman and will continue to work closely with the Visionael team, its board and its customers to ensure Visionael's continued success.
Nichols is an industry veteran, with over 16 years of experience in executive-level management, research and development, business development, sales and marketing. Prior to joining Visionael, Nichols served as senior vice president of worldwide operations at TRADOS, a leader in globalization management solutions. Nichols has also held executive-level positions at Cap Gemini and Ernst & Young, and served in a strategic marketing role at Hewlett Packard.
"Visionael's expertise in network management solutions was a key benefit in the company's recent move into another area of IT infrastructure -- network security," said Nichols. "Knowing how IT administrators and networks work most effectively is a 'must' if you're going to succeed in protecting those networks from attacks. As a result of the company's proven track record in developing innovative networking management solutions and an impressive customer list, including Fidelity Investments, Kaiser Permanente, General Motors, and the Pentagon, Visionael is well-positioned in the vulnerability management market and I look forward to the continued growth of the company."
Visionael first entered the IT security market when it introduced Visionael Security Audit in September 2003. Subsequently, in May 2004, Visionael released Enterprise Security Protector(TM) (ESP), the first security management software to fully integrate vulnerability assessment, remediation and validation in one single-source solution. Visionael's proactive security management speeds assessment and removal of the latest critical network vulnerabilities to protect enterprises, government agencies, and educational and healthcare institutions from internal and external Internet threats before they damage assets and compromise sensitive and proprietary data.
"With the fear of security threats rising, today's IT departments not only need to proactively find the holes in their corporate networks, but also need a solution that helps alleviate the pain of prioritizing and patching these vulnerabilities," said Cynthia Ringo, Managing Director, Vantage Point Venture Partners. "Visionael's combination of network management and vulnerability management solutions provide customers with a "one-stop shop" to keep businesses safe and productive. Craig is an outstanding leader to further drive Visionael's innovation in this space and to extend our position as a provider of leading-edge network management solutions."
