CARY, N.C. -- 3Dsolve Inc., The Simulation Learning Company, today announced that two new members have joined its corporate advisory board. Dr. Julian Lombardi, a principal of the open-source Croquet Project and Assistant Director at University of Wisconsin's Division of Information Technology, and Charles Shook, managing partner of Tallawa Capital Partners LLC, round out a top-tier board that includes successful entrepreneurs, leading business authorities, and world renowned technology leaders.

Lombardi oversees a software research and development group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he helps define and lead university-wide initiatives that seek to transform teaching and learning through the use of technology. He is also a principal of the Croquet Project, an open-source software development effort being supported by the University of Wisconsin, the University of Minnesota, Viewpoints Research Institute Inc., and Hewlett-Packard Inc.. In 1999, he founded ViOS, Inc. after being awarded a patent on technologies and processes for visualizing and organizing location-based information. ViOS developed 3D architectures that supported the visualization of Internet-deliverable resources. Prior to founding ViOS, Lombardi was a biology professor at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

"I look forward to leveraging my skills and background as part of 3Dsolve's advisory board," said Lombardi. "The Croquet Project represents an important step forward in operating system design and development, and I have no doubt that 3Dsolve will have an important role to play in bringing Croquet and related technologies to a wide audience."

Shook formed Tallawa Capital Partners in 2003, focusing on buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth equity investments of private companies with revenues typically between $10 million and $100 million. Prior to forming Tallawa Capital Partners, his experience included private equity fund management for Harbert Management Corporation, investment banking with Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc., and management consulting with FMI Corporation. Shook received a BA in economics from the University of North Carolina and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

"I've been incredibly impressed with the 3Dsolve team and what they have accomplished in a short period of time," expressed Shook. "I'm excited to take an active role in helping them build upon that success."

Both Lombardi and Shook join an already stellar advisory board that includes: Joichi Ito, founder and CEO of investment firm Neoteny Ltd. and a World Economic Forum member; Reid Hoffman, founder and CEO of LinkedIn, the premier online business networking service, and a co-founder of PayPal; Thomas Kelley, founder of Shamrock Associates and well-known as an expert in special operations for law enforcement; and Professor Thomas C. Reeves, renowned instructional technology authority from the University of Georgia.

"We're delighted to have Dr. Julian Lombardi and Charles Shook join our advisory team," said Richard Boyd, CEO of 3Dsolve. "They will contribute a breadth of knowledge and experience to our existing board, allowing us to focus on developing better technology in the simulation learning market."
