SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The sounds of jazz come alive in downtown San Jose at the 15th Annual Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival presented by Southwest Airlines (www.sanjosejazz.org). Scheduled August 5-8, 2004, in the Plaza de Cesar Chavez, more than 165,000 people are expected at the world's largest free jazz festival. The Festival features some of the top names in jazz including Ray Barretto, Terence Blanchard, Jane Bunnett, Dena DeRose, Pete Escovedo, James Moody, Steve Turre and Lizz Wright. These and other artists are scheduled to perform on eight stage venues during the three-day Festival.
So whether you are new to jazz or an enthusiast, the SJCVB's Jazz Jam Pack can be tailored to include hotel accommodations at the San Jose Hilton & Towers; dinner for two at City Bar and Grill; tickets to the Opening Night Gala and Concert (Thursday, August 5); tickets to the first ever San Jose Jazz Festival New York Salsa Dance Party (Friday, August 6); and a compilation CD of this year's jazz festival artists.

> Trouble Free Transportation -- Capitol Corridor Offers Convenient Rail ServiceFor added convenience of getting to the festival, Amtrak(R) Capitol Corridor will offer rail service from Sacramento and the Sierra Foothills to the San Jose Bay Area. The train service stops at the San Jose Diridon Station, and from there, passengers can connect for free to VTA's #63/#65 bus route into downtown. Free Transit Transfers are available through Capitol Corridor's conductor.
With Capitol Corridor, festival goers can leave the car at home, save on gas and enjoy a Jazz weekend getaway. Following the festival, visitors can jam into the early morning with after-hour events such as Music After Dark, film screenings and jazz sessions that will be held in several downtown venues.
