Dallas/IABC Names Finalists for 2004 Communicator of the Year

DALLAS -- The International Association of Business Communicators' Dallas chapter announced today that three Dallas-area professional communicators have been nominated as chapter finalists for the Dallas/IABC 2004 Communicator of the Year (COTY). The final winner will be named at the Dallas/IABC Bronze Quill Awards gala, Oct. 7, 2004, at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison.

The 2004 Dallas/IABC COTY award finalists includes:
--Carol Barreyre, ABC, communications consultant with Carol Barreyre Communications in McKinney, Texas. Barreyre specializes in integrating all aspects of high-tech companies' marketing communications activities. As an expert in planning communications campaigns, she combines her skills and experience in planning, employee communications, public/media relations and issues management to carefully manage targeted communications campaigns for start-ups to Fortune 500 companies including EDS, Fiserv and Texas Instruments. Barreyre is a past Dallas/IABC president and serves on the IABC District 5 board.
--Gayle Goodman Lynch, public relations project manager for Centex Corp. (NYSE:CTX) in Dallas. Lynch is responsible for managing projects related to the areas of corporate reputation, media and investor relations, and community investment for Centex, a Fortune 250 company ranked among the nation's largest homebuilders, mortgage lenders and commercial contractors. She has more than ten years' experience in communications and journalism, holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and is an MBA candidate at the University of Dallas.
--Jerry Stevenson, principal, Stevenson Consulting in Dallas. Stevenson combines a diverse background that includes corporate communications, public relations and systems engineering. As an independent speaker, author and consultant who helps companies use technology to communicate effectively, Stevenson specializes in making the complex understandable and translating "techno babble" into workable communication strategies. Formerly the lead strategist behind one of the world's largest global intranets at EDS Corp., Stevenson has served hundreds of clients, including Allstate, The American Heart Association, IABC and TXU Corp., among others.
