HighRES Formalizes Partnership with UGS; Integrated 3D Reverse Engineering Software Plug-in Creates Native Digitized Data for UGS' NX Application
Business Wire, August 31, 2004
LA JOLLA, Calif. -- HighRES, Inc., providers of computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) integrated 3D reverse engineering and digitizing software products, announced it has formalized its relationship with UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, as a Foundation Partner under the global UGS Partner Program.
Through this partnership, HighRES offers HighRES for NX, UGS' digital product development solution. The solution works with a portable coordinate measuring machine (cmm), laser tracker, laser scanner or desktop digitizer and creates native, feature-based NX models directly from an existing part, thus eliminating the need to import foreign digitized data that requires additional work to produce a functional NX model.
"This partnership represents a milestone for our organization," states Christiann Moore, director at HighRES. "This integrated solution confirms our commitment to the PLM community and brings our robust bundled reverse engineering solution to the NX community of users."
"The combination of NX and HighRES can enable a significant productivity boost to any company performing reverse engineering functions," said Yery Camacho, product manager for Manufacturing Planning Solutions NC Machining, UGS. "The ability to automatically produce a native NX model -- complete with features -- directly from an existing part will save our customers a great deal of time in model manipulation; and, the introduction of support for new digitizing devices is an added bonus. This technology permits quick turn around times when reverse engineering and prototyping are key factors for shortening time to market of a product."
HighRES Chief Technology Officer Braxton Carter said, "Engineers now have the freedom to populate the feature tree with free form surfaces and solids generated by digitizing 3D/2D splines, lines, arcs, circles and rectangles from physical molds, models or parts. Digitized data is collected on screen, within the open NX part file and can be measured, inspected, modified or used for part to CAD comparison during the active scanning process."
HighRES expects to start shipping the HighRES for NX immediately and will also be providing customer training and annual maintenance support options.
