Chantry Networks Touts Virtualization and VoIP at Wi-Fi Planet Conference & Expo
Business Wire, Dec 1, 2004
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Chantry's Director of Technical Marketing Discusses Strategies for Creating Separate Virtual Networks over a Single Wireless LAN; Product Demos Feature VoIP
Chantry Networks, the leading provider of secure integrated mobility management solutions, today announced that Director of Technical Marketing, Shawn Sweeney, will participate in a panel discussion on "Virtualization and Mixed-Use Wireless LANs" today at 2:30 p.m. PST during the Wi-Fi Planet Conference & Expo at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California (http://www.jupiterevents.com/wifi/fall04/index.html). Sweeney will join a panel of industry experts to discuss strategies to keep private, secure traffic from public or "guest" access, establish different service levels, and control access to specific network resources when using wireless LANs.
Chantry Newtorks' BeaconWorks product suite is an integrated secure mobility management system that leverages a "fit" access point architecture for more scalable and easily maintained wireless LANs. Embedded in BeaconWorks is Chantry's innovative VNSWorks(TM) technology that manages multiple virtual networks over one physical wireless network, enabling the secure partition of the WLAN network to deliver independent policies and traffic for separate user groups. During the panel discussion, Sweeney will provide insight into the techniques and technologies necessary to increase the functionality of WLANs with virtualization capabilities, as well as the benefits of virtual wireless networking.
Chantry Networks will also demonstrate its mobile user management solutions in the exhibition, at booth number 626. Chantry's exhibit will highlight the company's wireless voice over IP (VoWiFi) capabilities, giving visitors the opportunity to use SpectraLink phones to roam throughout the exhibit hall (moving from access point, or BeaconPoint, to access point) without losing the call or having to reauthenticate.
Sweeney has more than 23 years of technical experience in the data communications industry. Prior to joining Chantry, Sweeney was with WLAN start-up Legra Systems. Previously, he was Director of Field Operations at Allegro Networks where he drove initial market acceptance and trial of the industry-first MultiRouter System (MRS) for carrier edge routing. As Director of Systems Engineering for RiverDelta Networks (later acquired by Motorola), Sweeney was responsible for the initial trial deployments and sales of the company's Carrier-Class Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS). He has held similar management positions at Packet Engines and Bay Networks (the combined entity of Wellfleet and Synoptics). He began his career with a 14-year stint at Motorola Codex, a leader in transmission, statistical multiplexing, and network management.
