LogicLibrary and Everware Team to Expand Logidex Federal Enterprise Architecture Ecosystem

Business Wire, Dec 1, 2004

PITTSBURGH & FAIRFAX, Va. -- Leading Government Solution Provider Joins Logidex Service Alliance; Contributes Reference Model and Services to the Logidex FEA Library

LogicLibrary(R), the leading provider of software asset management tools, and Everware, a leading provider of component-based software solutions to more rapidly address business performance issues, today announced that Everware has joined the Logidex Service Alliance and included their J2EE Software Component products in the Logidex Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Library. Announced earlier this year, the FEA Library gives FEA architects, planners and developers access to FEA reference models and assets that enable more efficient organization of service components and other enterprise architecture artifacts across applications and business-process-centric initiatives. It is available as a read-only library, and can be accessed in the Logidex Asset Center at www.logiclibrary.com/fea-everware.jsp.> The FEA Library includes content for the FEA Business Reference Model (BRM), Technical Reference Model (TRM) and Service Component Reference Model (SRM), which promote collaboration, standards and specifications, and software reuse, respectively. It also contains close to 200 service-specification and service-standard assets mapped to the TRM model and, with Everware's contributions, boasts commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and an Everware application-oriented reference model to complement the FEA content. Everware's components have been implemented specifically for government organizations and are mapped to the SRM; example services include Audit History, Global Code and Address. The Everware reference model is a high-level model of a human resources application that illustrates how Everware's pre-built components can be used.

"The FEA Service Component Reference Model, or SRM, provides a classification scheme for service components. By registering metadata for actual enterprise component products in the Logidex Asset Center and mapping them to appropriate SRM objects, we can demonstrate the value of the Federal Enterprise Architecture, as well as the Asset Center, to individual project architects," explains Warren Ellmore, president, Everware. "With Logidex, it's easy for development projects to locate reusable objects that significantly reduce the time and cost of developing solutions."

Everware specializes in applying advanced technology and modern approaches to architecting and building business software for government and commercial customers. Their approach is driven by service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and implemented with service-based enterprise software components. To rapidly deliver these solutions, Everware uses a combination of pre-built, extendable components that provide common business and technical functions, a unique capability to quickly provision custom components, and industry-proven tools, patterns and frameworks. As a Logidex Service Alliance member, Everware will continue to work with LogicLibrary on content for the FEA Library, and will recommend LogicLibrary's software development asset (SDA) management solution, Logidex, to prospective clients and existing customers.

"Everware is at the forefront of component-based development (CBD) techniques and methods, and their solutions and expertise greatly complement that of LogicLibrary's," said Donald Imhoff, vice president of business development and channels at LogicLibrary. "This partnership is a natural fit for both companies, and we are excited to announce the addition of their services to the FEA Library. This further expands the Logidex FEA ecosystem, begun by LogicLibrary and Noblestar, and we look forward to future collaboration with Everware on content for the FEA Library."
