AmberPoint Completes Reseller Agreement with IBM for SOA Management Solutions; Leading Systems Integrator Expands Web Services Offering with Addition of Market-Leading SOA Management Suite

Business Wire, Dec 13, 2004

OAKLAND, Calif. -- AmberPoint, the leading provider of service-oriented architecture (SOA) management software, today announced that it has completed a worldwide reseller agreement with IBM (NYSE:IBM). Under the terms of the agreement, IBM Global Services will offer AmberPoint's award-winning management solutions as part of its recently launched SOA Management Practice. Additionally, AmberPoint will deliver training and support for IBM's sales and consulting teams to ensure consistently excellent service from both IBM and AmberPoint.

"Many of our customers have started to experience the benefits of their initial SOA implementations and now need management capabilities to support the increasing complexity of their systems," said Michael Liebow, vice president, Web services, IBM Global Services. "This newly expanded partnership with AmberPoint builds on the success we've had working together to help large organizations scale to enterprise-class SOA systems."

IBM Global Services' SOA Management Practice is designed to help customers with Web services management capabilities as they scale to enterprise-wide SOA implementations. This practice is based on the expertise IBM has developed over the past year in helping thousands of customers design and develop service-oriented systems.

AmberPoint provides the critical management layer needed to realize the return on investment from distributed, heterogeneous, service-oriented systems. AmberPoint's solutions provide comprehensive management and security capabilities without requiring any changes to the services themselves. AmberPoint was the first Web services management vendor with solutions that run natively in both Java and .NET, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.

"Our extended partnership with IBM represents a significant opportunity for companies migrating to service-oriented systems," said John Hubinger, AmberPoint CEO. "IBM Global Services is leading the industry in implementing enterprise-class SOA deployments and AmberPoint is the market leader for SOA management solutions. This combination of leading software and services, backed by the impressive hands-on experience of these two organizations, gives corporations the chance to more quickly and reliably shift business-critical systems to service-oriented architectures."
