Adobe Acrobat Software Helps Cisco Streamline Document Processes
Business Wire, Dec 13, 2004
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Pioneering Cisco Legal Department Takes Advantage of Acrobat and PDF to Complete Contracts More Quickly, Accurately
Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced that Cisco Systems, Inc. is using Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) software for more secure document-based processes, to boost employee productivity and refine external communications. The Cisco legal department, for example, which has been a national leader in driving process automation for in-house legal services, has adopted Acrobat and the ubiquitous Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) to help simplify and speed the process of finalizing contracts.
By deploying Acrobat, Cisco has simplified document workflows and provided employees the ability to share documents with customers and business partners in Adobe PDF. This helps Cisco maintain a clear paper trail to monitor all authorized edits to documents, and helps protect files from unauthorized changes prior to final distribution. In addition, Cisco has harnessed the strengths of Acrobat Professional to create Web-based forms it uses for data collection.
"Through use of Acrobat Professional and other Adobe products, we've refined internal document-based processes such that projects can be completed faster and more accurately," said Michael Stevens, manager of legal business services at Cisco. "The Adobe solution also allows for easy integration with a variety of other on-line tools the Cisco legal department has developed."
The Cisco legal department uses Acrobat for its large volumes of contract documents, enabling the group to provide its users with electronic versions of contract records. This minimizes the number of requests for hard copy contracts and the time needed to access important contract information. The Cisco legal department also uses Adobe Photoshop(R) software to create and edit images and graphics for professional presentations and video-on-demand training modules. Photoshop allows graphics to be imported into the presentations created by Cisco's media teams.
