SBC Communications to Highlight IPTV Plans at 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show

SAN ANTONIO -- Jeff Weber to Discuss Company's Entertainment and Communications Strategy On Digital Hollywood Panel

SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE:SBC) announced today that Jeff Weber, vice president, product and strategy, for IP operations and services, will participate in a Digital Hollywood panel at the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), focusing on the company's plans to launch television and entertainment services.

"The Telco-Entertainment Partnership - From TV to Broadband Services" will be held at 1:30 p.m. PST Friday, Jan. 7, in room N261 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Consumer Electronics Show runs Jan. 6 through 9 in Las Vegas.

In addition to Weber's participation in the Digital Hollywood panel, SBC Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre will outline the company's plans to integrate entertainment and communications technologies during an "Industry Insider" speech at 10:30 a.m. PST Jan. 6 in room N250.

SBC recently detailed plans to deploy fiber optics closer to customers and build an, IP-based (Internet Protocol) network capable of delivering a rich array of integrated next-generation television, data and voice services substantially beyond what is available from today's telephone, cable or satellite TV providers.
