Viewlocity Adds HP to Growing List of High-Tech Manufacturing Customers; Supply Chain Leaders Continue to Turn to Event Management to Gain Advantage

Business Wire,  Dec 14, 2004

ATLANTA -- Viewlocity announced today that HP has purchased their software for supply chain visibility and event management. HP joins Dell, Menlo, Ford and other supply chain leaders who are turning in greater numbers to Viewlocity-type software to gain an advantage in the marketplace.

"Companies are looking for an edge, something that will enable them to generate more revenue and capture marketshare while controlling costs," said Jeff Simpson, Viewlocity's CEO. "When companies go looking for tools to help them better manage operations under the new 'extended enterprise' paradigm, they usually find Viewlocity."

Simpson said that leading companies already have applications in place for ERP, forecasting, transportation, and manufacturing. Now they are looking for an incremental investment that leverages these systems to better meet demand and remove hedges of inventory, capacity and people. It's a move that's paying off big - in just a matter of months.

Dennis Cain, VP Americas Technology Solutions Supply Chain at HP, who was involved in the evaluation and selection of Viewlocity, commented: "This is the future of supply chain management. Using Viewlocity, we're developing the means to monitor our extended supply chain, making sure things happen as they are supposed to. If things go wrong, this 'early warning system' allows us to respond to problems while protecting customer service and controlling costs. This translates into real bottom line results."

The project will kick off in HP's services division, a key differentiator in the highly competitive computer business.
