Independent Research Firm Cites i2 as a Leader in Its Report, ''Product Information Management Leaders Emerge''
Business Wire, Dec 14, 2004
DALLAS -- i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC:ITWO), a leading provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions, has been named a leader in Product Information Management (PIM) by a leading independent analyst firm. i2 was among the select companies that Forrester Research, Inc., invited to participate in its Dec. 8, 2004 Forrester Wave report, "Product Information Management Leaders Emerge." In this evaluation, i2 was cited as a leader in offering one of the strongest overall PIM solutions as measured by current offering, strategy and market presence.
According to Erica Rugullies of Forrester, author of the report, "the PIM software category was born in 2002 when Web catalog management and print catalog management products merged." Today, she continues, PIM solutions do the following:
--Extract and transform product data.
--Integrate structured product data with unstructured content.
--Output product information in multiple formats to various destinations.
--Synchronize with other systems.
--Offer end users tools like search, workflow and auditing/reporting.
Forrester evaluated 13 PIM vendors using its Wave(TM) methodology, comparing them in three main areas: current offering, strategy and market presence. With regard to i2, Forrester's Rugullies writes, "i2 Master Data Management is strong in some core areas like the data model, data extraction/transformation, synchronization, workflow, PIM standards support, scalability, and architecture. It is scalable and integrates well with existing systems, and is the only product to earn a score of 5 in the cost category. Differentiators include strength in features like version control, security and auditing and reporting."
i2 MDM is developed on a service-based architecture and is designed to facilitate data management, data synchronization and data quality measurement across an enterprise. i2 MDM can work together with a customer's existing infrastructure investments to synchronize data within various point systems as well as author product data and manage data quality across all systems. Companies using i2 MDM to leverage data services can ensure the data is initially cleansed as well as manage and maintain these assets in MDM moving forward.
"As organizations implement new IT applications, they need a way to author, monitor, synchronize, and maintain the data upon which those systems rely. We have found that very few companies have a single, unified approach to data management, costing them time and money," said Pallab Chatterjee, i2 president, Solutions Operations. "Forrester's recognition of the crucial role of Product Information Management and the thorough evaluations they have done are important and offer valuable information for companies seeking to better manage their data for a competitive advantage."
