WRQ And Raytheon Win Industry Awards for Verastream-Powered Supply Chain Project; Kinetic Information Recognizes WRQ and Raytheon with Innovation and Vision Awards
Business Wire, Dec 16, 2004
SEATTLE -- WRQ, Inc. today announced that Kinetic Information LLC, an analyst organization, has presented one of its 8th annual Innovation Solutions Awards and the overall VISION Award to WRQ and Raytheon for creating a superior supply chain management application, MTrak, that lowered logistics costs by 8.6 million and supports over 20,000 users across 13 sites.
With MTrak, Raytheon has improved productivity and customer satisfaction by enabling employees to track material from external carriers, as well as create and track internal transfers of material.
Raytheon leveraged the power of the WRQ(R) legacy integration software, Verastream(R) host integration server, to retrieve mission critical data from its mainframe systems and integrate it into MTrak web screen presentations, supplementing the user's view of material.
Specifically, MTrak developers used Verastream to encapsulate, reuse, and expose host logic and data through web services standards. These Verastream-created services are easily accessed within the team's Microsoft's .NET platform. In less than two months, developers created a library of web services that enable Texas and California MTrak customers to access key purchase order and part information. > "These awards from Kinetic Information recognize the strength of our mission to facilitate the supply chain from end to end," said Rob Vettor, Raytheon senior business technologist and MTrak architect. "WRQ has changed the way we think about our host applications and web initiatives. For the first time, we have truly bridged the gap between our new web applications and the mission-critical information that was previously locked away in the mainframe. More importantly, Verastream has opened up new host integration opportunities across Raytheon.""We're honored to have Verastream recognized as a leader by winning these awards," said Randy Robinson, vice president of products at WRQ. "WRQ has a tremendous understanding of the important role host integration has in boosting business productivity. These awards validate that successful organizations are the ones like Raytheon that integrate mainframe and modern assets into their corporate strategy and vision."
"WRQ and Raytheon exemplify today's most creative and original technology thought leaders," said Steve Weissman, president and publisher of Kinetic Information. "We congratulate them for their ability to develop innovative IT solutions that improve and accelerate the development of innovative applications."
