MLB Teams with Santa Claus to Provide Gifts for New York Boys and Girls Club
Business Wire, Dec 17, 2004
WHAT: Major League Baseball and Santa Claus are teaming up to
brighten the holidays for several underprivileged New York City
youth.
Major League Baseball will host a holiday party for Santa and
50 children (ages 5-13) from the Madison Square Boys & Girls
Club, Columbus Clubhouse (Bronx NY). The Madison Square Boys &
Girls Club is an affiliate of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
America (B&GCA), the official charity of Major League
Baseball.
During the party, employees of Major League Baseball and Major
League Baseball Advanced Media (MLB.com and MLB Radio) will
help Santa Claus distribute gifts donated by Major League
Baseball employees who participated in the New York Cares
Secret Santa program. Since 2002, Major League Baseball has
provided gifts for nearly 400 youth through the New York Cares
Secret Santa program. MLB works with New York Cares year-round
on various community projects, including New York Cares Day,
Spring Clean-Up Day and the annual citywide coat drive.
