Vault Releases New Employee Surveys on Xerox
Business Wire, Dec 2, 2004
NEW YORK -- New York research firm Vault (web site at Vault.com) has just published new employee surveys on office equipment giant Xerox (NYSE: XRX) - providing "insider" information on corporate culture, compensation and hiring practices at the company.

Vault's employee surveys are designed to give investors and jobseekers insight into Xerox - and for job seekers, the edge in this tough recruiting climate.
Says a software engineer, "Xerox places a high emphasis on diversity and rewarding executive management. It does not reward initiative or risk taking, runs much like the government. Scott Adams could get a decade worth of material out of some of the corporate initiatives. Much of the engineering to corporate relationship feels distrust for Xerox executive management after a significant number of business decisions by poor executive management at HQ in Rochester. The running joke in the cafeteria between engineers is that if you by spot me for my coffee then 'you can have my profit share'."
As for compensation, a former systems engineer adds, "When I was laid off, I was on a 90/10 split with a budget for consulting services. My base was $65,000 with bonuses and stock options. I received bonuses if I exceeded my budget for the month and if my budget was exceeded by a certain percentage for the year. In my tenth year there, they stopped all profit sharing and if budgets were exceeded, we were given stock options."
