Business Wire, Dec 20, 2004

IRVING, Texas -- More than 200 Texas charities were awarded $500 grants from The Allstate Foundation this year, thanks to the volunteer efforts of Allstate agents and sales managers throughout the state.

The Allstate "Agency Hands in the Community" program, which debuted in 2003, is part of a $631,000 charitable giving plan for The Allstate Foundation in Texas to promote local volunteerism while financially supporting the Texas nonprofit community. Allstate representatives who receive the Agency Hands in the Community award serve nonprofits as volunteers, mentors and leaders. More than $100,000 was awarded through the program this year.

"The very fabric of Allstate consists of people who are compassionate and care deeply about the local community," said Gary Briggs, Allstate Field Vice President. "Allstate serves an important role in communities by offering insurance and financial protection. Supporting nonprofits groups with volunteers and financial contributions is an extension of that commitment."

Organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Partners in Education, Asian American Youth Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels and March of Dimes were among the many charitable foundations to receive grants through the program.

The Allstate Foundation is an independent, charitable organization made possible by the Allstate Corporation. Allstate and The Allstate Foundation sponsor community initiatives to promote "safe and vital communities;" "tolerance, inclusion, and diversity," and "economic empowerment." The Allstate Foundation believes in the financial potential of every individual and in helping America's families achieve their American dream.
