Internap Selected by Vonage to Enhance Infrastructure for Growing National VoIP Service

Business Wire, Dec 21, 2004

ATLANTA -- Company to Provide Intelligent Routing Solutions and Industry Leading SLAs for Delivering Reliable Performance to Vonage Customers

Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX: IIP), the leading provider of performance-based route optimization technology for the Internet, today announced that it has been selected by Vonage, the leading broadband phone company, to provide intelligent routing solutions to support Vonage's growing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) U.S. operation. Under terms of the agreement, Internap will provide IP connectivity services in New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas.

"Internap is at the center of applications layer convergence, and the public Internet is the foundation of this convergence, especially VoIP," said Jeffery A. Citron, Vonage chairman and CEO, in making the announcement. "Internap's premiere customer service, backed by the industry's best performance guarantee enables us to efficiently manage our Internet connectivity, to guarantee our customers the best call quality. They have a proven track record on which I am confident Vonage customers can depend on."

"Vonage is clearly changing the paradigm for voice communications in this country," said Greg Peters, president and CEO of Internap. "We are extremely pleased to be associated with Vonage. At Internap, we truly believe we are delivering the kind of technology that gives Vonage and hundreds of other enterprises around the world the confidence to deploy on-demand applications over the public Internet."

Internap's business model, which is based on proprietary IP routing technologies and a platform of data centers that are interconnected to all major Internet service providers, has consistently proven to be an ideal network for companies deploying VoIP applications. Internap is providing Vonage with optical level connectivity in New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas to help enhance the performance and redundancy of Vonage's existing infrastructure.

With some 350,000 customers today, Vonage is working to increase the stability and reliability from its service providers as it expects to dramatically expand its VoIP customer base by 25,000 lines per month. Vonage looks to Internap as a key differentiator in achieving this growth.

Internap's unique multi-carrier platform allows customer traffic to avoid the congestion and bottlenecks of traditional single-carrier networks. Internap's data centers connect directly to the Internet backbones of multiple carriers in major cities throughout North America, as well as Tokyo and London, and the recently announced addition of Singapore, Sidney and Hong Kong. Internap's intelligent routing technology continually analyzes the traffic situation on each Internet backbone, and then selects the optimal path to deliver on-demand applications like VoIP faster and more reliably. Only Internap's route-control technology provides this level of performance and reliability from the public Internet.

Because of the tremendous growth of Internet-based business applications and increased user expectations, IT departments are challenged with identifying new network optimization solutions that satisfy diverse network requirements. Internap ensures optimal delivery of data, voice, video and other applications by providing leading-edge reliability, security and control across IP networks. With Internap, enterprises can deploy applications faster and more confidently by having end-to-end integration throughout the supply chain, delivering greater flexibility in an increasingly dynamic and competitive business environment.
