Chicago's Computers for Schools program, founded in 1997, takes donated 233 MHz and higher computers, from both individuals and corporations, and refurbishes them for schools, non-profits and need-based homes. Nearly 80 percent of all donations received are refurbished and reused; however, unsalvageable equipment is recycled responsibly.
"Our organization recognizes that our children and our school districts need better access to technology," stated Willie Cade, president of Computers for Schools. "Once they have access and start using a computer, it becomes an important part of their lives. Gordon & Glickson's donation - and the donations of others - gets us one step closer to creating the power users of tomorrow."
