Topping off a year of exciting AOL(R) Music LIVE! concert events with some of the world's biggest music stars, pop rocker Ashlee Simpson will perform live online as part of the popular AOL Music series. In a further effort to showcase AOL's original programming on the Web, AOL Music will broadcast this special event to both AOL for Broadband members and fans on the Web at aolmusic.com. The live broadcast will occur on Monday, December 6 at 11:00pm ET/8:00pm PT, from the intimate El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. In addition, online fans can tune in to hear a simultaneous audio broadcast on the AOL Radio Network. The concert will be available on demand for 11 days.
"I'm really looking forward to doing this special AOL concert," said Ashlee Simpson. "I had so much fun recording for Sessions@AOL, and performing for a live audience of so many people online is going to be really exciting."
"Ashlee has truly taken the spotlight this year," said Jack Isquith, Executive Director of Music Industry Relations for AOL Music. "We've had the fortune of securing the biggest artists of the year to perform for our AOL Music LIVE! concert series, and I'm sure our audience will be thrilled to have Ashlee help us close out 2004 with a bang."
Ashlee Simpson's exclusive performance follows successful AOL Music LIVE! events with Usher, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Nelly, Usher and Toby Keith. Recent performances were played more than one million times in a week. Months after the live events, individual original performances from these concerts consistently appear on AOL Music's weekly Top 11 charts, often outpacing the traditional music videos for the same songs. Select AOL Music LIVE! events, including Simpson's, also air in 2,600 Wal-Mart stores nationwide through AOL's relationship with the world's largest retailer.
As part of this special AOL Music LIVE! event, fans are encouraged to donate to Keep a Child Alive (http://www.keepachildalive.org/), an organization dedicated to providing life-saving medicine to children and families with AIDS in Africa. Ashlee Simpson will be featured in a public service announcement for the cause.
AOL made tickets for this special invitation-only event available through giveaways on select radio stations in Los Angeles and through Simpson's official fan club.
Born in Waco, TX, Ashlee Simpson is the latest member of the Simpson clan to achieve superstardom. The younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson, Ashlee is more of a rock rebel whose voice evokes the styles of Pat Benetar and Joan Jett. Before co-writing and recording her debut album, Autobiography, Ashlee was an accomplished young dancer and actress, having appeared on "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The View" before landing a regular role as Cecilia on the WB series "Seventh Heaven." Autobiography, released in July on Geffen Records, has already reached double-platinum status, making it the year's biggest debut by a female artist. The album debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and remained there for three weeks.
AOL Music is a leading online destination for music, reaching nearly 20 million music fans a month(1) through a rich array of programming, products and services that make it easy to discover, experience, listen to and buy music online.
